2018 Summer Camps

If you are serious about taking your game to the next level, this hockey camp is perfect for you!  During this hockey-filled week, we are committed to your success in developing your hockey skills. Together with the Dutch power pack from SportWays Hockey Camps, we'll focus on your personal improvement. 

This course will definitely give you the opportunity to improve your skills and have a lot of fun! You will be challenged by exciting training sessions and clinics. SportWays is the oldest and most experienced field hockey camp organization in the world. Their ambition is to help you get the best out of yourself and enjoy the game. 

Date:  July 3-6, 2018

Time:  8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Location: Rutledge Field

Ages:  7 - 18 years (U8-U18). Boys and Girls.

Players will receive a SportWays t-shirt.

PLEASE NOTE: We only have spaces for 80 players and demand will be high.

Before camp care: 8-9am, $15

Summer of Fun Camp


The goal of our Summer of Fun camp is to work on technique and skills and play fun games in a supportive environment. Great place to perfect your hockey or start a new sport!
Open to both beginner and intermediate players.

Date: July 31st to August 2nd, Tuesday to Thursday
Time: 9am - 12 noon
Location: Rutledge Field
Ages: U6 - U13 Girls & Boys (born 2003 - 2012)
Cost: $99 for all 3 days or $40 a day

We also have before camp care available for an additional fee of $15 from 8-9am.

*Minimum registration is required for the before and after camp care to run.

Multi-Sport Camp


WVFHC is partnering up with some cool organizations to offer you a multi-sport experience. Work on your field hockey technique and skills in the morning and then try a new sport in the afternoon!
  • Boys and girls age 5 – 13 years  
  • Register for full day, mornings only or single days.  Full day includes supervised lunch break.
  • $250/full week (Monday-Friday)
  • $150/ mornings only
  • $75/single day (morning and afternoon)
July 9th & 10th - BC ULTIMATE SOCIETY (1-3:30PM)   
Ultimate is a non-contact sport played with a frisbee disc.  BC Ultimate offers programs that introduce the sport in a fun and safe way to participants of all ages.

July 11th - NORTH STAR FLAG RUGBY (1-3:30PM) 
North Star Rugby launched the first Flag 7's rugby program on the North Shore for boys and girls. This will be a fun and dynamic way to learn some skills and try the game. .

July 12th & 13th - NSGSC (1-3:30PM) 
The North Shore Girls Soccer Club is a community soccer club providing girls with an opportunity to play soccer at many skill levels and in a supporting environment that emphasizes fun, fair play and skills development. These sessions are open to boys and girls.
WVFHC will also be offering before and after camp care. Register for the morning, afternoon or both!

Before camp care: 8-9am, $15
After camp care: 3:30-5pm, $15
Both before and after camp care: 8-9am and 3:30-5pm, $25

Fall Pre-Season Camp


Date: August 27-31, 2018
Time: 9am - 4:30pm
Location: Rutledge
Ages: Boys and girls grade 8-12
Cost: $300/full week or $75/single day

9am-12pm Technical session
Specific Technical Skill Development - High Intensity and Position Specific Training
Skills include offensive techniques to improve your goal scoring and eliminations, as well as defensive skills to win 1v1 and 1v2 battles. 

1pm-2pm  Field Hockey Specific Quickness and Agility Camp
Field hockey specific speed, speed endurance and agility sessions. Ideal preparation for both the Mens/Womens league and the High School season.

3pm- 4:30pm Advanced Speciality Skills
Specialized skills session to learn those skills that are critical to team success. Skills include all offensive and defensive penalty corner skills. Drag flicking, pull out, stick stopping are trained. We also look at the defensive techniques needed for each position in penalty corner defence.

What Do I Need?

All players are responsible for providing the following equipment:

  1. Running shoes or turf boots for artificial turf. Soccer cleats are not permitted on Rutledge Field but are allowed on other artificial turf fields.
  2. Shinpads - soccer shinpads.
  3. Mouthguard - standard plastic sports mouthguards can be purchased at many sports stores. To mold the mouthguard to the shape of your mouth so it is more comfortable, place it in boiling water for about a minute. Then take it out and hold it in your mouth for a minute.
  4. Field Hockey stick
