The aim of the U7/U8 program is to introduce basic skills of field hockey whilst having fun. We keep the groups small so that players have many opportunities to touch the ball. Many modified games will be played to introduce basic skills of field hockey. The focus at this age is on fun, movement and safety. Our goal is to help your child develop athletic movement skills and learn field hockey specific skills.
Teams: Teams are approximately 12-14 players, no goalies.
Uniform: A t-shirt and socks will be provided that you can keep. Please wear black shorts.
Location: Rutledge or Ambleside E
Dates: April 7th to June 16th. No sessions April 14th or May 19th weekends.
Practice: Fridays – U7: 5:30-6:30pm, U8: 6:45-7:45pm
Games: Mini games will be part of the Friday session.
Jamboree: There will be 2 Jamborees. Dates: TBC
- WVFHC is proud to kick the 2017 Spring League off by hosting World League at Rutledge from 1-9 April 2017. World League is an international womens field hockey tournament that will feature Canada's national field hockey team along with 7 other nations. Our Spring League members will have some exclusive opportunities to be inspired by international role models and get involved in hosting this prestigious event.
- Lead Coaches will be on-field throughout the Spring League season to provide extra guidance and coaching to teams
- Guest appearances and coaching from Men's National Team and Women's National Team players
- Free pre-season “New to Field Hockey” sessions that will allow you to prepare for the upcoming season with confidence. Details and dates to be confirmed.
